April 25 – Living examples

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1Pet 3:9

We are living examples of God’s love.

Think about that for a minute.  Think about our own human pettiness, our selfishness, pride, lack of compassion and tendency to judge.

And yet we are called to be living examples.

Doesn’t that scare you just a little?  It scares me.  It makes me quick to apologize and quick to back down when I should, but it doesn’t make me any less human, prideful, or petty.

To be a living example we must be surrendered.  A surrendered life spent looking toward God is a far different example than a life  filled with surrendering and looking at the world.

Just something to think about.  And yes, I write for myself as well as anyone stumbling across these pages.
